If you read a lot of reviews of a particular mattress model, you’ll see that people will oftentimes have the same things to say about it, and other times there will be a lot of conflicting opinions. For this reason, it’s important to read as many reviews as possible. That is also why I like to tie in my personal experience with the mattress but then also read all of the other available reviews to make sure I’m not missing anything and to make sure I can get a consensus opinion on the mattress at hand.
With the same mattress, one reviewer might say it’s too soft while another might easily say it’s too firm. You really can’t rely on just one or two reviews when it comes to mattresses because the experience is so individualized. There have only been a few mattresses where I recommend them and just about everybody ends up loving the mattress. People will ask me “what’s the best mattress for me?” as if there is one answer that I can just immediately throw back to them. There really isn’t one best mattress, and I stress that on my site as much as possible. It really depends on so many factors, like your age, weight, whether you have back or shoulder pain issues, whether you like the feel of memory foam or not, what your budget is, how long you want to have have the mattress, etc.
I guess what I’m saying is don’t rely on just one person’s experience. If your friend says “oh, you need to get this mattress. I love it and you will too,” you need to be cautious because there’s no reason to believe that you will like it just as much as they do. Instead, I strongly recommend doing as much research as you can. On our site (see our reviews here), we try to tie in my personal experience with the experiences of plenty of other people. We try to do all this research for you, so that you don’t have to.
Take this advice to heart, and you’ll be in a much better position to buy a mattress that you will love.
